American Express Is Hiring a Lead Analyst for Global KYC Testing in Gurugram
If you've spent time in AML, KYC, or regulatory compliance and want to work on testing that spans multiple countries rather than one market, this opening is worth a close look. American Express has posted a Lead Analyst – Global KYC Testing role in Gurugram, sitting inside their Global Merchant & Network Services compliance function. It's a hybrid role, and applications close 10 September 2026 — so if you're interested, don't sit on this one.

What the Team Actually Does
The RBST team sits inside Amex's Financial Crime Center of Excellence, under Global Governance, Risk, Remediation, and Operations. Their job is essentially to test Amex's own merchant onboarding process — checking that KYC checks, documentation, and risk assessments actually meet the regulatory bar in each market Amex operates in, and flagging it when they don't.
As the Lead Analyst, you'd be doing the hands-on testing: pulling merchant records, reviewing KYC documentation, deciding whether a case passes or fails, and escalating patterns when the same gap keeps showing up across multiple files.
What You'd Be Doing Day to Day
- Running end-to-end regulatory self-testing on merchant onboarding files across global markets
- Reviewing KYC documentation and merchant records against AML requirements
- Writing up testing conclusions with clear, evidence-backed reasoning — not just pass/fail, but why
- Spotting recurring compliance gaps and escalating them before they become bigger problems
- Working in Excel (and ideally SQL) to reconcile data and validate samples
- Coordinating with regional testing teams — this is a genuinely cross-border role
Who Tends to Do Well in This Role
Based on the listing, Amex is looking for people who've already got AML/KYC or financial crime testing experience — this reads more "step up" than "career start." A few backgrounds that map well:
- Current AML/KYC analysts who want to move from processing files to testing and assurance
- Compliance or audit professionals comfortable making judgment calls on ambiguous cases
- Anyone with regulatory testing or QA experience who's also solid in Excel/SQL
If you're newer to compliance, this probably isn't your first KYC role — but it's a reasonable one to aim for after 1–2 years in AML operations.

Before You Apply
- Lead with your AML/KYC and regulatory testing experience at the top of your resume, not buried in bullet points
- If you've done root-cause analysis or exception reporting anywhere, say so explicitly — this role lives in that space
- Mention Excel and SQL by name if you've used them for reconciliation or sample validation
- Don't wait — this one closes in a few days
